Nate Busco has spent 12 of his 17 years on the run. Tired of bouncing from foster home to foster home, he now lives in his car, eats corn husks, and uses running workouts as an opportunity to shower. When night falls, he can’t help but be different from the confident, gruff character at school. When he’s alone, he’s haunted by traumatic memories from his past. Stan Dean shows up, a popular high school drama teacher struggling with his own problems. He sees Nate’s hidden talents and his need for care and guidance that no other teacher can, and goes to help. But a shocking incident results in Nate being arrested in the middle of school and brought back in handcuffs. Stan not only follows Nate to the police station and bails him out, but, to the surprise of his fellow teachers, agrees to take Nate home. Stan is willing to do whatever it takes to help his troubled student. But the question is, can you really help someone if you are not ready to help yourself?
